Leather seats are often seen as a sign of luxury, especially in a car. Regardless of location, a leather seat can occasionally get wrinkles that detract from its appearance. Wrinkles might be a sign that your leather is suffering from environmental stress or damage. Fortunately, you can remove wrinkles without sending the seat to a dry cleaner or professional leather maintenance provider. Using a hair dryer to remove wrinkles on a leather seat can quickly restore the leather's appearance and save you money.
Step 1
Wipe down the leather seat with mild soap and water or a specifically formulated leather cleaner. Use the cloth to rinse and dry the leather seat so that no soap or cleaner residue remains on the surface of the leather.
Step 2
Inspect the leather seats and find all the places that have wrinkles.
Step 3
Turn on the hair blow dryer to its hottest, strongest setting.
How To Shrink Leather JacketStep 4
Position the end of the dryer eight to 10 inches away from the wrinkled leather surface. Move the end back and forth so that the hot air from the dryer is not hitting a single portion of the leather for too long. This prevents the dryer from burning the leather.

Step 5
Wait for the wrinkles to disappear. The heat from the hot air in the dryer will gradually shrink the leather, tightening its surface and effectively removing the wrinkles. Hair blow dryers operate at a lower temperature than the professional heat guns that are typically used to remove leather wrinkles. As a result, it might be several minutes before the wrinkles are completely gone.
Apply a light coat of premium leather conditioner and work it into the surface of the leather. This helps to protect the leather from the environment, and it might prevent or minimize future wrinkles. Buff lightly with a cloth. A high-quality leather conditioner might cost slightly more than some other brands, but it has less wax and can extend the life of your leather. Popular leather conditioners include Mothers Leather Conditioner and Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. Such products may be purchased at your local automotive store or online.

Do you prefer gloves that fit you tightly? Have your gloves stretched over the years? You CAN shrink them. I have done this.
Now this is entirely doable and does work but there are risks involved.
You need an iron and greaseproof paper/tracing paper.
Heat will shrink the leather, but too much and it may make your fingers (of the glove) deform.
Pull your glove into shape lengthwise. Stretch the fingers lengthwise. You are trying to make the glove as narrow as possible
Place a piece of card under the thumb of the glove so when you push down on the iron, you don't leave a thumb shaped dent in the palm of the glove. Place the paper over the glove. Be sure no leather is exposed and completely covered. As the paper is semi transparent you can kind of see what you are doing and where you are ironing. Put the iron on hot and with stream.

Press the iron on the glove and basically iron the glove firmly. Pausing a few moments in between. How much time and how much pressure you use depends on how thick the leather is. Thin leather requires less time. Pressing down will put creases so if you want to avoid creases (say along the outside edge of your forefinger all the way to the cuff) just avoid the edge when ironing. Iron both sides of the glove. The glove should be hot. Allow the glove to cool before trying on - even in the fridge if you want. If not tight enough, repeat the actions again and again (heat, cool, heat, cool) until satisfied. I have found the best shrinkage happens over repeated procedures and not all in one go. So a few cycles of heat and cooling work best.
I am warning you though to be careful! Use your best judgement to know WHEN to stop. The little fingers or the thumbs may be the first ones to curl. If you notice it happening immediately stop and pull and stretch the finger and hold it into shape until it cools. Unlined and/or thin leather gloves require skilled and careful techniques.
I have SUCCESSFULLY shrunk my leather gloves over the years. Yes I have had some where the fingers curled up but overall 90% success. Good luck!

In 2011, the cost of leather reached its highest price in more than a decade, so keeping your old leather in good condition is even more important. Leather, like skin, ages and wears down and after a period of time will stretch out and lose its integrity. Fortunately, there are techniques to help return leather to its original state. Proper care and patience is the key to minimising any damage or undesirable results.

Find out what type of leather you have and the tanning process used on it. This information will determine the amount of heat needed to shrink the leather. Alum-tanned leather shrinks at 55 to 60 degrees Celsius. Chrome-tanned leather shrinks at 100 degrees Celsius. Leather that is vegetable-tanned shrinks at 167 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. You can find out the type of leather you have by checking the label. The company you bought the leather from will also have this information.
Purchase or rent a clothing steamer.
Hang the leather on a high-quality hanger or lay it down on a flat, dry surface.
Steam the leather slowly in small sections, using the heat appropriate for the type of leather you're working with. You should start to see some indications that the leather is shrinking. Periodically test the leather until it has reached the desired size.
Allow the leather to air dry and apply leather conditioner to make the leather supple and soft.
Boil water to the required level of heat for that particular type of leather. If the leather is smaller in size, a large pot on a stove should suffice. For larger leather pieces, transfer the water to something with more room, such as a bathtub. You can check the water temperature simply by using a thermometer.
Use a sample of the leather to test for colour fastness if you can. Shrinking leather with boiling water may damage the colouration of the leather.
Submerge the leather in the water for 10 minutes at a time to periodically test the amount of leather shrinkage.
Allow the leather to air dry and apply leather conditioner.

Question: Shrinking Only the Shaft Part of a Cowboy Boot
I have seen different places on the web about shrinking leather by soaking it in water. Another place mentioned that the water will penetrate better by adding some alcohol to the water. Anyway, I'm afraid that if I soak only the top upper (or shaft) part of my boot that I want shrunk (because I have a large foot, but a small/thin calf and the top of the boot has a large gap around the calf area that looks ridiculous) that it might discolor and be a different color than the bottom (the boots are red).
Anybody had any experience with shrinking colored leather like that and also how much shrinkage can I expect? Also it won't do me any good 'wearing' the boot while it dries because it's not a matter of it conforming to my leg, I just want it to be smaller around (besides I don't think it will shrink enough to hug my leg anyway!). Just wondering how much it may shrink and if it will be worth taking the chance on messing up the colors (top vs. bottom of boot)? Thanks for any comments!

You wont get much shrinkage that way. Consider finding someone who will restitch the boots for you to make them fit. I have done that sucessfully with english riding boots that are very expensive. Check with different shoemakers to find someone who will work on boots. In the Seattle area there is only one person who does it. If you know a motorcycle cop ask them as they have their boots taken in and let out as they gain or lose weight. There may be more people who can work on western boots. Good luck.

I really don't think that wetting the top part of a boot will shrink it enough for your purposes - Have you thought about having them taken in by a shoemaker?
